EXPO OFFERS KIDS PRIZES FOR WEARING RECYCLED ART

Rochester, MI (March 9, 2008) Upland Hills EAC is pleased to announce an exciting and fun "Recycled ART-icle Contest" to be conducted during the third annual Earth Day Expo held at OU's Oakland Center on Saturday April 19th, from 11am-6pm.

The Orion Art Center will sponsor the Recycled ARTicle Contest for kids of all ages. Reggis Harrison, OAC Executive Director, will be judging the contest. "Using recycled materials is a great way to celebrate Earth Day and get into recycling. The contest is fun because every kid that enters gets a prize and five winners will get cash prizes and recognition, plus kids have a blast making and showing off their artwork."

The contest will be explained to kids as follows:

Design & Make Your Own Artwork

Design your own recycled wearable art -  it can be a hat or any article of clothing you dream up. It just needs to be something you wear and that you made from recycled materials that would have otherwise been thrown out.  Be creative, zany, big, colorful and outrageous. Just remember to have fun making it and be sure to go for the wow! factor.

Wear Your Artwork

Wear your new artwork to and around the Earth Day Expo and proudly show off what can be made out of trash. Come to the stage area in the Cafe' a few minutes before the top of each hour from noon to 5pm to enter the contest and collect your entry prize.

Win Fortune & Fame!

A $25 cash prize will be awarded to the best entry every hour, on the hour, from noon to 5pm. A grand prize winner will be awarded $50 cash or tuition to a summer art class at the Orion Art Center (a $125 value) and have their photo posted on this Earth Day Expo website for an entire year!

The Earth Day Expo is open to the public and free of charge. It is the place to celebrate Earth Day, to discover healthy alternatives for earth-friendly living, and to make the connection between healthy products, people and planet. The expo will cover a wide range of green and healthy topics. For more information about attending, exhibiting or volunteering, visit www.earthdayexpo.org or call 248-693-1021.
