EARTH DAY EXPO PROMOTES LOCAL GREEN BUSINESS
100+ Local Businesses & Thousands of Consumers to Attend
Rochester,
MI –
The 3rd annual Earth Day Expo
will be held at Oakland University on Saturday, April 19th. It will attract
thousands of consumers interested in healthy, earth-friendly living.
The Expo will offer attendees the opportunity to connect with over
100 local businesses on the forefront of the rapidly-emerging green economy.
These companies are increasingly in
demand by consumers who want products and services that are organic, local, natural, nontoxic, holisitic,
fair-trade or otherwise healthy for people, place and planet.
According to John Batdorf, Expo Manager, a major purpose of the expo is to
stimulate the local green economy. "The expo is helping to make the
connection between healthy products, healthy people and a healthy planet -
through education about the benefits of and improved access to green
products and services."
Over 100 local business will be
exhibiting including:
* over a dozen organic restaurants, farmers and food products
* renewable energy system providers including solar, wind & geothermal
* many natural home, lawn, garden and personal-care products
* over tow dozen wellness & complementary medicine services
* alternative vehicle, fuel and transportation organizations
* green building, energy efficiency and home improvement companies

In addition several corporate
sponsors will be exhibiting. "We are happy to join forces with our
corporate sponsors including DTE, Whole Foods and The Home Depot. Each has
significant green programs and these sponsorships allow us to include local businesses
and non-profits organizations at a much lower cost",
stated Batdorf. "We recognize the need to work within the system to
move in a positive direction, as opposed to pointing fingers. We need to
work on every level to address the pressing ecological and economic problems
facing our world."
"Let's face it;
there is a lot of
bad news about our environment and our economy", continued Batdorf. "But, like
a plane headed for a mountaintop, we need to increase our
economic acceleration, just in a higher direction. That direction is local,
sustainable business. And, the good news is that the
solution is within our community. The great news is that it
promises to improve the quality of our economy, our
environment, and our lives."
